Special Needs Babysitting & Nanny Care
Thoughtful, Specialized Care for Children Who Need More Individualized Support
If you’ve ever hesitated to leave your child with someone new, you’re not alone.
Many families come to us after working with babysitters or nannies who:
Didn’t understand their child’s communication style, routine, or support needs
Needed constant direction or correction
Disrupted routines that took time to build
Meant well, but weren’t equipped for what your child actually needed
When your child requires more individualized support, finding the right caregiver can feel emotionally exhausting. Families often come to us after struggling to find caregivers who truly understand their child’s needs.
You shouldn’t have to explain everything from the beginning every time. You deserve to feel confident your caregiver truly understands your child
A more thoughtful approach to CARE
Balanced Babysitting was founded by Rebecca Ryan, BCBA, LBS, to give families access to childcare that is more thoughtful, individualized, and informed. While our caregivers are not therapists and babysitting is not therapy, our process is guided by a deep understanding of behavior, communication, sensory needs, safety concerns, and the realities families face every day.
At Balanced Babysitting, we approach special needs childcare with more intention.
Our approach is informed by professional experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), child development, communication support, and behavior-informed care. We understand how important consistency, predictability, emotional regulation support, communication styles, and individualized routines can be for children with neurodivergent, developmental, medical, or behavioral support needs.
We are a BCBA-led agency, bringing a deeper understanding of behavior, communication, and developmental needs into every match. That means caregivers are selected not just for their availability, but for their ability to support your child in a meaningful way.
At the same time, we believe care should always feel human, flexible, and aligned with your family.
We combine:
Behavior-informed insight
Thoughtful, individualized matching
Respect for your routines, values, and parenting approach

Many families come to Balanced Babysitting specifically looking for a special needs babysitter who understands routines, sensory needs, emotional regulation, communication differences, and individualized support.
